Some similar blogs

Blog
Blog
For my first post I am going to critically evaluate other blogs that are on a similar topic to mine (music in advertising). However, as my topic is quite narrowed down it is difficult to find similar blogs, thus some of the ones I will be looking at are not necessarily on the same topic but simply have made a post on the same subject.

Syllabus blogs
It is not clear what the main focus is for this blog, but I will be discussing the post titled ' The power of music advertising.’. It reveals the 10 most used songs in adverts. It seems the blogger has done her research, but the post could go into a lot more depth. As for the layout it is pleasing to the eye, featuring lots of images and consistent colours. However, due to the large image you have to scroll down to see the posts which some people may not realise and skip to the next blog.

Pigeons and Planes
It features videos of what they believe are successful advertisements due to the music and then explain why the music worked well in the advert. The only fault with the content is that sometimes they could look at the advert in more depth other than simply stating the advert is good because the song is good and the use of swear words can offend users. Also with the large amount of videos the page takes time to load. Overall the structure of the blog is great but the mass of advertisements can be distracting.

Burnham Richards Advertising Agency
The first thing you notice about this blog is the images and the constant use of the colour blue. It is professional yet attractive and everything is consistent. I find it hard to fault this blog, everything is laid out perfectly and easy to navigate. The only negatives I can say are that the text is slightly small and all the content in the post is very compact.

Sounds like Joe
A music based blog which features a post on music in advertising.
The post is informative and includes lots of technical terms. It is different to the others as it includes examples of adverts that have been unsuccessful due to the wrong choice of music. The layout of the blog is very simple using monochrome making the blog easy to read. The only negative for this blog is that the home tab navigates you to a different website. This can confuse people and they may struggle to get back to the blog’s site.

Reach students
Although the topic of the blog is not similar to mine, it featured a post from a guest blogger on my topic which I found so interesting to read and I cannot fault it. The post covers the various areas that my blog will cover. It is written in a professional way and makes good use of multi-media. The layout of the blog as a whole is good; the only negative is the colour of the blog is quite dreary. Thus a little colour wouldn't go amiss.

Definitely keep your eye out for this blogger!
